Boulder Hemp was founded and funded by two PhD level scientists, and their families, trained at the University of Colorado Boulder in various biological disciplines. Boulder Hemp is a small operation dedicated to scientific research and development, which is a laborious process that seeks objective and verifiable truths. They follow a longer-term vision for development, an approach which they acquired as professional scientists in academic and commercial ventures outside of the cannabis industry.
Growing Practices
Boulder Hemp grows some of the best hemp flower in the world. They use the best CBD producing hemp plants available to US growers as well as more exotic varieties from Europe and Asia. Boulder Hemp is located at the base of the Rocky Mountains where they irrigate with only glacier and snowpack melt water.
Boulder Hemp cultivates only high yielding varieties at small scales using labor-intensive organic techniques. Boulder Hemp does not use any herbicides. They use plant derived soaps and essential oils, as well as microbiological agents to control insect pests. In general, outdoor field grown plants need very little pest control in Colorado due to the natural abundance of predators such as ladybugs and praying mantis. The high potency flower is grown only to a scale that allows for proper drying and processing.
Extraction
Boulder Hemp uses only pesticide-free growing practices ensuring a pure extract of the highest quality. The premium flower is then processed both in-house and by some of the best hemp extraction labs in the world. The oil is extracted in relatively small batches using high pressure CO2 and food grade ethanol.
Formulation
They then use only simple organic plant derived products to complete the finished product.
Third Party Testing
Boulder Hemp performs all the standard commercially available tests for cannabinoid potency, pesticides, heavy metals and solvents through two independent labs for all batches of flower and oil.
