We all seek improved health and enhanced quality of life. Who doesn’t want to be pain free, wake up rested or at feel continuously at peace? These are just a few of the restorative properties of CBD and other therapeutic blends. But what if we could find other ways to support the use of CBD to improve our daily wellbeing?
Who doesn’t want to be pain free, wake up rested or at feel at peace?
CBD and other cannabinoids are great at reducing stress and inflammation, improving sleep and relieving aches and pains. But there is more to overall health than just eliminating symptoms. We need to incorporate the key elements of dietary and lifestyle management to support health and wellbeing. The key elements are:
- Diet
- Stress Relief
- Sleep Support
- Movement
- Pain Management
- Immunity
- Mental Health
- Breathwork
- Sexual Enhancement
Each of these elements help to improve overall wellbeing, or if ignored or not managed, sabotage health. They all may be used to support the use of CBD and vice versa. CBD is great to complement, not replace, a healthy lifestyle. Let’s look at reasons to incorporate a healthy lifestyle into your CBD routine.
CBD is great to complement, not replace, a healthy lifestyle.
As we discussed, CBD and other therapeutic blends help bring balance back to the body by interacting with our Endocannabinoid System. This system regulates mood, sleep, discomfort, and inflammation. Proper nutrition is also essential to keep your Endocannabinoid System (ECS) functioning efficiently.
The ECS is one of the most important physiologic systems involved in maintaining health.
For example, while CBD is great at relieving aches and pains, the food you eat can determine how well your body fights painful inflammation. Food can help support your immune system by having it regulate inflammatory markers. On the flipside, if we are not aware, many foods can be inflammatory, creating a situation leading us to more discomfort. Similar benefits or drawbacks are tied to each of the different elements.
The key elements are interdependent and influence each other.
Each of the elements of wellness are deeply interconnected. They support health in different but coordinated ways. Nutrition is connected to stress and sleep. Good sleep influences eating habits and stress management. And movement impacts pain and sleep. You get the picture. It’s important to eventually address all of them.
Ignoring one or more of the elements can create a vicious cycle that will be hard to break. Stress and discomfort lead to trouble sleeping. A lack of sleep may increase anxiousness and pain sensitivity. This is a good example where CBD can be used to intervene and break the cycle, giving us a chance to incorporate dietary and lifestyle changes more easily. Likewise, positive changes will hopefully help us avoid negative elemental cycles in the future.
We often dismiss incremental changes because they don’t seem to make a difference.
It can be quite overwhelming trying to figure out a place to start—where to intervene. Do I improve my diet? Get more sleep or increase exercise? The best first step is to pick one element that appeals to you the most. The focus is to make small incremental changes that benefit the others. As you are making changes, we recommend keeping a “new you” journal and record the progress along the way. Some key measurements might be quality of sleep, food cravings, and energy and pain levels. Congratulate even the small wins.
